RACHNA & KUNAL | part three

After the wedding ceremony everyone retreated back to their rooms to get ready for the party.  Rachna went all out with her preparations for the latter part of the day.

Rachna, your choice of jewelry is impeccable…way to rock out that bling!

Still, there is nothing more sexy than a beautiful smile…

…except for confidence.  Laura Black did a wonderful job with Rachna’s makeup, as did Niki Moon with her hair.

I couldn’t get enough pictures of Rachna…she’s simply too beautiful to stop at one, two, or three.

The architecture at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare was something to capture.

Kunal and his entourage gave the girls a run for their money.  They are one handsome group of boys.

The dance floor was expansive, but DJ Runi had the dance floor bumpin’ all night.

Rachna and Kunal, once again, I lack words to express my gratitude and appreciation for allowing me to document your wedding.

Thank you.

I wish you the best that married life has to offer.

Hugs,  ~Veronica

RACHNA & KUNAL | part two

Here you can see the amazing work that Ravi’s Mandaps did for Rachna’s ceremony.  It was truly a site to see.

Here is Rachna’s mom, Padma, enjoying the Baraat with Kunal and his dad.  Definitely one of the liveliest moments throughout the day.

During the Baraat the groom and his family are welcomed by the bride’s family and friends.

The Milni Ceremony is when the bride’s close relatives give a warm welcome to the groom and his relatives with flower garlands.

During the Ganesh Puja, Kunal participates in a prayer ceremony with Rachna’s parents and the pundit (priest) to sanctify the ceremony,

bless the couple, purify them from evil and bring them lifelong happiness.

Before the bride enters, the antar patt (veil) is held up in front of the groom by the groom’s sisters to prevent him from seeing the bride.

It signifies that they are still separate individuals.

Once Rachna is seated, the antar patt, symbolizing the physical world that separates them is then removed in order to bring them together.

Rachna is escorted by her maternal uncles.

Rachna and Kunal wrote their own vows.  They promised to respect one another and walk side by side.

I didn’t do their vows an ounce of justice with my words, but their promise to each other moved me to tears…maybe, just a little bit.

Here is a tender moment between Rachna and her sister Shweta during the Akhand Saubhagyavati.

Married women from the family blessed Rachna by whispering words of wisdom and good wishes in her ear for a long and happy marriage.

RACHNA & KUNAL | part one

Rachna and Kunal’s wedding is one I will not soon forget.  Each polished bead was like a symbol of every happy, joyful, carefree moment shared between the two.  Many memories created with countless friends and family that cherish them individually and as a couple.

Rachna and Kunal’s wedding was a family affair.  Their love is reflected in every lavish detail of their wedding.  There is no doubt that there was never a shortage of help when this wedding was coordinated.  Throughout each day, the Mehtas and the Talwars were readily available to help in any and every way possible.  With as much kindness and free willing generosity that their families displayed it was easy to fall in love with every single one of them.

Rach…Kun, I am incredibly honored to have been a part of your wedding day.  It was a blessing to have been by your side throughout each day and every moment.  Your respect and admiration for each other is inspirational.  Documenting your love was a pleasure and so much fun.  Thank you for sharing your family with me. XOXOX  ~Veronica

There are too many beautiful details to highlight in one blog post.  Below are a selection of Rachna’s preparations and a couple portraits of the gorgeous bride and groom.

Rachna, you are stunning!

I adore the detail in Rachna’s jewelry.

The light coming in from the windows at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare was lovely.

EDITH Y JIMMY | chicago lifestyle engagement photographer

There’s not much that is better than documenting an engagement session at a location that is a true reflection of a couple’s relationship.  Before we schedule an engagement session, I do my best to learn about the couple to find out what it is that they enjoy doing together.  Then, we brainstorm together to find a location that defines their courtship in an honest and creative way.  Edith and Jimmy’s engagement session is a great example of that.

Edith is a teacher.  Jimmy is a boxer.  They support each other in their careers in a way that is encouraging without hesitation.  Edith is a soft spoken woman, but without an ounce of naiveté.  Jimmy is a man’s man, but also incredibly chivalrous.  Their love is quiet and deafening all the same.

Edith…Jimmy, I am honored to document your wedding next month in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

MARIBEL & SAUL | Riviera Maya Destination Wedding Photographer

They were both thirteen when they met at Precious Blood’s youth summer camp.  Saul was a mature 15 years old when he decided to take Maribel on their first date, which happened to be on her 15th birthday.  One month and five days later, on his birthday, he officially asked her to be his girlfriend.   She tried to play ‘hard to get’ by telling him that she will give him an answer the next day.  He wasn’t having it and demanded an immediate answer.  So, she said, “Okay, fine!”.  Fifteen years, many adventures and two gorgeous babies later, I had the privilege to document their wedding at the Grand Princess Resorts in the Riviera Maya, Mexico.

There is something special that happens when I photograph couples, families and babies.  When I took off my sibling hat and put on my photographer hat to photograph my own family it became incredibly more special to me.  Having the opportunity to capture my brother’s love for his new wife is something that I have come to appreciate while behind the camera.  Without the camera, I see my little…or rather, younger brother as someone who I feel an instinctive need to protect as I do with everyone that I love.  When I picked up my camera to document his wedding, his identity changed.  He became a strong, independent man. A man who loves his wife and his two sons.  Someone who can just as easily, if not better, be able to protect himself and his family with no help from me.   No longer the little brother I have always pictured him to be.  Nor the little brother who would lick an entire box of cookies so that he wouldn’t have to share with his three siblings.  If you know anything about us, you would know that having anything artificially flavored or processed in our home was not the common commodity.  You did what you had to do in order to get just a little bit more.  Little did he know that his cooties didn’t keep my sweet tooth from enjoying a few.  What, TMI?  Come on, we were kids!

I digress.

Saul…Maribel, I find it difficult to find words that define the love and appreciation that I have for you two.  I hope that within these images you will be able to see it from my perspective.

Con muchos abrazos y besos de parte de tu hemana mayor,

~ Chubby

Maribel’s mother, Alicia, made her beautiful dress.

No need for high-healed shoes on the beach!

Maribel’s Matron of Honor helps her get dressed while my favorite little girl looks on.

Maribel, you are stunning!!

Little did we know that Hurricane Alex was to blame for all this rain.

Rain, schmain;  Hurricane schmurricane!  No worries here.

The rain stopped just in time!

The Grand Princess Riviera Resort did a beautiful job with the setup for the nuptials.

Really?  Who gets heckled during their first kiss?  I guess a kiss on the cheek isn’t really appropriate.

The heckling worked!

Overcast skies are my favorite to shoot under.

So much fun.

Beautiful couple.

The rain came back, but we didn’t go away.

Maribel’s mom also made the brides maid’s dresses.  She is incredibly talented.  These ladies wore them well!

My brother is one good lookin’ dude!

RAWR.

Check back soon for a slideshow.
